8 Best Robot Mops of 2020
While this is an essential task – especially in bathrooms and kitchens – few people really like to mop a floor. Imagine if you had something that could do it for you without complaining and that didn’t require buckets of water, a dirty mop, a grueling effort, or worse, kneel down? Enter the robot broom.
Similar to their robot vacuum cleaner counterparts, few robot mops are deep cleaners, but they can add an extra level of cleaning to your routine and reduce the number of times you need to do a deep cleaning session. The Good Housekeeping Institute’s home appliances and cleaning supplies lab evaluates hundreds of products every year, including specialty floor cleaners like mops and robot vacuums. This means that we know what really works and what doesn’t work when it comes to cleaning.
When we test a wet floor cleaning tool, we assess how well it picks up dried dirt (like sticky jelly and coffee drips) that we applied to test the floor panels installed in our cleaning laboratory. We also look at how easy it is to use and maintain and how much or little water it leaves on wood, vinyl and tile floors, to assess any potential damage. The following robot mops have been selected based on their experience with a brand, review of product information, online consumer videos and reviews, and interviews with manufacturers:
Best robot mop: iRobot Braava jet m6
Best value robot mop: ILife Shinebot W400 Floor Washing Robot

Are Robot Mops Worth It?
Yes, especially for families with pets or small children or for anyone who wants to keep their floors cleaner than they have the time or energy to devote. Most robotic mops can go under low furniture and can clean at corners and along edges, but they work best if you pick up and straighten the space before starting the mop: like their vacuum counterparts, robotic mops can get stuck on small obstacles and can be confused in crowded pieces of furniture.
Just as if you were using a standard bucket and mop, you should first vacuum or sweep up lint and dust. You will still need to manually clean up large spills: very heavy floors can be a little difficult to handle, but a robot mop saves time and helps prevent dirt from accumulating, so you have less work and cleaning time in depth to do.
What to look for when buying a mop robot
First, you will have to choose between the three types of robotic mops – wet mops, dry sweep and mop combos, and mop and vacuum combos. Wet mops spray water on your floor to dislodge dirt, then wipe off soiled liquid. Very few suck dirty water. Others that combine vacuuming or sweeping with a mop use disposable or reusable wet microfiber pads to clean hard wet floors.
Then you should also consider:
- Bartery life. Look for rechargeable batteries that last at least 90 minutes. If you have more space to clean, look for mop robots that charge and resume, returning after being loaded to the place where they stopped cleaning to finish the job.
- Easy configuration and maintenance. The easier it is, the better it is when it comes to charging the robot mop, filling and emptying the water tank, removing or replacing the cleaning pads and setting it to clean once or at regular intervals.
- Safety for floor surfaces. If your house is mainly made of parquet, make sure that the robot mop you select is designed to clean this surface. All robot mops are safe for vinyl and tile floors.
- Sensors for floors and carpets. If you have a mixture of carpet and parquet, choose a mop robot that can determine the difference. Some mop robots have mapping features, which allow you to select only certain areas to be cleaned.
- Integration of applications. This is useful if you want to see what your robot is doing, access maintenance issues, or schedule cleaning sessions in advance or during your absence. You can also configure prohibited areas that should not be cleaned via the application instead of manually blocking the space.

Best robot mop
Braava Jet M6 Robot Mop
$ 399.00 (20% off)
If you’re looking for a smart mop robot to clean multiple areas of your home, take a look at iRobot’s Braava jet m6. IRobot vacuums still do well in GH cleaning lab tests, and a first version of this model we tested was no exception. This robot mop comes with pads for dry sweeping and two types of wet cleaning pads – disposable and reusable. It distributes hot water through an adjustable spray nozzle to moisten dirt and dirt before one of the wet pads cleans the dirt off your hard floors.
To catch animal and rabbit hair before wiping the wet mop, allow the Braava jet m6 to come off in dry sweep mode, so that the electrostatic pad picks up debris. Braava knows enough not to spray water when the dry pad is installed, and with its Smart Mapping technology, learns the most effective way to clean the rooms of your house, even on several levels. The precision of the mapping of the Braava jet m6 improves as it cleans and thanks to the application, you can select the parts to be cleaned and those to ignore, schedule cleanings when you are away from home and overlap them for deeper cleaning.
Its square design helps the Braava jet m6 penetrate deep into the corners and mop along the baseboards. When the battery needs to be recharged or the water tank needs to be recharged, Braava returns to its charging station and resumes cleaning when it is ready to go out again. Braava jet m6 can clean up to 1000 square feet on a single charge. After cleaning, simply release the dirty cleaning pad in the trash, or wash the reusable ones in your washer and air dry.
Best Value Robot Mop
Shinebot W400 Floor Mopping Robot
While most robot mops run a wet cleaning pad over your hard floors, the iLife Shinebot W400 is different. Clean tank water first moistens your tiled, stone or composite floors to dislodge dirt and grime. Then a scouring roller agitates and cleans thoroughly, the suction sucks the dirty water into a larger separate tank, and a rubber blade follows to remove the residue, so that the soil dries faster.
What makes this robotic mop with wet cleaning unique is its second water tank, so clean, dirty water never mixes. But that also creates its main drawback: the Shinebot is 4.5 inches tall, which can keep it from going under low furniture and some kitchen cabinets. The Shinebot is controlled by integrated buttons or a remote control and must be replaced manually on its docking station to recharge. Even if it does not have WiFi connectivity, you can still define a “prohibited” zone in “zone” mode and start the robot broom opposite the zone you do not want to clean.
The Shinebot W400 is relatively quiet. You will almost forget that he washes your floors while watching your favorite show or catching up with a friend.
Best robot mop and vacuum combo
DEEBOT OZMO T8 AIVI
The latest offering from Ecovacs, the Deebot OZMO T8 checks all boxes for an ideal robot and robot vacuum cleaner combo, and also includes peace of mind. Sophisticated encrypted HD livestream lets you keep an eye on what’s going on when you’re not around, so you can not only see when Fido jumps on the couch, but voice technology now lets you stop it in his footsteps.
From one of the best brands in our recent robot vacuum test, the Ozmo T8 has improved its obstacle detection, making it less essential for you to pick up toys, shoes, and even cables before ordering the robot to get to work. More precise multi-storey mapping makes it effective for cleaning your home.
When the water tank and cleaning pad are installed, the Ozmo T8 can vacuum and mop simultaneously. Water infiltrates through the cleaning pad to wipe moisture off your floors, but only after the dirt has been vacuumed for the first time. He can identify the carpet and will not access it if the Ozmo T8 is in cleaning mode. If your carpet needs to be cleaned, you must first detach the cleaning pad.
Best Value Mop and Vacuum Robot
eufy RoboVac G10 hybrid
From another prominent brand in our recent robot vacuum test, the economical Eufy RoboVac G10 hybrid super-thin is designed without brush rollers or carpet sensors, making it ideal for homes that are primarily bare floors or without carpet. In vacuum mode, it sucks the dirt directly into the tank. And at less than 3 inches tall, the G10 slips under low furniture, reaching dust bunnies and other stuffed animals hidden out of sight.
After vacuuming, attach the tank and the mop pad to the underside of the G10 and let it mop your hard floors with water. A waterproof mat is included to protect your floors while the broom is loaded. Although the operating time is shorter than on other models, the G10 returns to the charger when its battery is low, and after charging, it returns to finish cleaning. Wi-Fi connectivity and the Eufy app allow you to schedule cleanings in advance and remotely, and enable localized cleaning – all the premium features for a robot mop at this price. One reviewer has said that he is a “silent and efficient workaholic”.
Smartest robot mop and vacuum cleaner set
RoboVac L70 hybrid
Eufy’s L70 Hybrid robot vacuum and mop robot uses laser navigation and real-time mapping to help it find the most efficient route to cleaning your home. The L70 sucks up dirt and debris, while its carpet sensing ability not only increases the vacuum of the vacuum cleaner for deeper carpet cleaning, but also helps the L70 avoid carpet it might encounter cleaning. For added peace of mind, you can also set no-mop limits via the app for all areas where you prefer the Eufy not to pass. In addition, the application allows you to define cleaning schedules, to choose certain parts to be cleaned, to activate localized or mop only cleaning, and to adjust the suction power and the mop flow rate that you wish.
When the cleaning module is installed, the L70 can clean and vacuum. A practical waterproof mat attached to the charging station protects your floor from dripping until you have the opportunity to remove the cleaning module and the pad. As a bonus, it has washable filters that reduce the number of times they need to be replaced. The examiners were delighted with the power of the vacuum cleaner and the ease with which it is possible to empty the dust container after each cleaning. Slightly taller than 4 inches, it’s taller than most, but it’s great value for money considering its bells and whistles.
Best robot mop for small spaces
Braava Jet 240 Robot Mop
This economical pie pie is ideal for small spaces such as bathrooms and kitchens. Only 7 square inches and less than 3.5 inches tall, the iRobot Braava jet 240 can easily maneuver around toilets and under cupboards, which we observed in GH Cleaning Lab tests of an earlier model. It first sweeps dry to pick up lint, dust and hair before going through a wet or damp mop for more intense cleaning. Add hot water or iRobot Hard Floor Care cleaning solution to the tank. And don’t worry: even if you have water in the tank, with the dry sweeping pad, it won’t spray water.
Different pads for different cleaning modes slide under the robot – you can choose disposable or reusable pads, which makes it even more economical. When you’re done, release the button and drop the disposable pad in the trash or release it reusable to put in a washer.
The Braava jet 240 cleans in grid mode, using bump navigation to maneuver around pedestals and bathroom toilets, chair legs and other obstacles, and can cover around 200 square feet before the battery removable must be charged. It takes about an hour to recharge. The mop synchronizes with the iRobot application via Bluetooth, allowing you to configure stain cleaning, start and stop the robot, check the battery life, adjust the volume of the water jet and even to define a virtual limit. When you are finished, it is small enough to live under the kitchen sink, even on the side.
Best robot mop and vacuum cleaner for large areas
DEEBOT OZMO T5
This vacuum and combo mop is particularly smart. The Deebot OZMO T5 carpet detection technology not only increases the suction power when vacuuming carpets, but also avoids wet cleaning on a carpet. And for more peace of mind, thanks to its multi-level mapping capacity connected to Wi-Fi, you can configure virtual limits to prevent the OZMO T5 from entering your carpet in cleaning mode.
Deebot’s Ozmo achieved very good results in our recent robot vacuum test for its great suction and the ease with which it vacuumed debris from carpets and hard floors. The Ozmo T5 has a long lifespan: the battery can last more than 3 hours. When the battery is low, it returns to the docking station to recharge, then resumes cleaning where it left off.
Like other robot vacuums and mops combined, to start the mop, simply fill the water tank and attach a mop pad. Water infiltrates through the pad (you control the flow through the application), and the wet pad cleans your hard vacuumed floors. The app also allows you to set up cleaning sessions, choose days, rooms and floor levels, and the robot vacuum and mop can also be activated remotely.
Quietest Mop and Robot Vacuum Kit
A combined vacuum and a wet mop in one, this stylish robot (available in three colors, including white) will quickly keep your hard floors clean while you are busy with other things. The Roborock S6 maps your home during cleaning, and Wi-Fi connectivity to its app makes it easy to schedule a cleaning session for your entire home, or just a room or two. The S6 knows where it cleans and where it is. During our recent robot vacuum test, it was also very easy to install.
If the battery is low, the S6 will return to its docking station to recharge before resuming where it left off, and it can clean up to 3 hours in silent mode. In fact, at 56 dB, it’s the quietest robot vacuum and mop we’ve found. The S6 can vacuum and mop simultaneously, but can’t tell the difference between carpet and hard floor, so you’ll need to protect your carpet by installing virtual barriers via the app. You can choose a washable microfiber pad or disposable mop pads for easy cleaning and adjust the flow of water through the pad.
