9 Products to Create the Perfect Thanksgiving Tablescape

There’s a lot to think about in the lead-up to the holidays, and that’s extra true if you’re hosting a meal as big as Thanksgiving. Besides the menu, another hugely important aspect is your table decor. If this is your first time hosting and you’re not stocked on entertaining tableware essentials, we’re here to help.

With some major guidance from Stefanie Russo, the program director of marketing for Fortessa, we’ve rounded up your must-haves for the perfect Thanksgiving table.

Schott Zwiesel Sensa Red Wine Glass, Set of 6

It’s a common problem—your perfect tablescape ends up buried beneath a layer of glassware before the turkey is even served. Never fear, as Russo says there’s an easy fix for this.

“If you’re doing a more formal table, you can set a water glass and two wine glasses: one for white and one for red,” she tells us. “But you if have a smaller table or you want to be a little more informal, one good, all-purpose glass is great.

Fortessa Jupiter Double Old Fashioned Glasses

If you’re looking to inject some color into your tablescape but don’t want to overwhelm your guests with too much decor, Russo suggests doing it with glassware.

“One thing I think you can do with glassware is you can add a little bit of color to your table,” she says. “Our Jupiter glass comes in a variety of colors—you can go with clear to add a little bit of texture, or you can add in a colored water glass.”

Best of all, these glasses can work double-duty as mini vases. “I use the Jupiter glasses as vases all the time,” Russo says. “They’re great for small, little flower arrangements because they’re nice and low. You can still see across the table.”

Fortessa Textured Glass Dinnerware

Much like your water glasses, Russo advises using smaller plates to add color to your place settings, too.

“A lot of people have whiteware at home, but if you decide that you want to do a salad course first or you like to have an underliner with a plate on top, you can add some easy color—and it can be subtle!”

Along with colored accent plates, Russo says the same can be said of textured plates. Whether they’re neutral or glass, any plate with some added texture to it is just another way to add more visual interest to your tablescape.

“You can add a clear glass plate to give a different texture to the porcelain,” says Russo. “Or if you are going for a more rustic look, I like our CloudTerre collection a lot. Because the glaze is hand applied, they all look a little different.”

Fortessa Velo Two-Toned Flatware Sets

Flatware is often the forgotten element of a Thanksgiving tablescape, but Russo says this is a missed opportunity.

“People buy silverware when they get their first apartment, when they get married, when they get divorced, and when they buy a second home,” Russo says. “But you can do a couple of fun things with flatware. You can mix and match, or you can add texture with a faceted look—like in gold, which is fun.”
