A Clear Improvement For Router Base Plates

We may receive a commission when you use our affiliate links. However, this does not affect our recommendations.

I cut custom base plates for my routers, which not only allows me to adjust the size for better stability, but to see the work better.

They are 14“-Thick plexiglas which I cut to size and shape on the bandsaw, then sanded with a belt sander.

I use a hole saw to remove the center, then filed the rough edges with a semicircular file. I also wrap a camping headlamp on my routers to light the tip through the clear plate. –Brian MacAllister
