Jig knobs for bottle caps
I always try to use leftovers and things that would otherwise end up in the trash. My latest devices are jig knobs made from plastic bottle caps, which have a grippy surface on the edges. To make these knobs, all you need are plastic caps, 1/2 “thick plywood, carriage bolts and epoxy.
First, cut the plywood discs to fit the caps using a hole saw. Then, countersink the plywood disc with a Forstner bit large enough for the bolt head. Next, drill a hole through the disc and slide the bolt. Finally, smear the epoxy around the inside of the plastic cap and place it on the disc / bolt assembly. Make sure you put the epoxy in the countersunk area around the bolt head. —Serge Duclos
