So tell me, would your imaginary dream house be by a lake or by the sea? I have lived in houses on or near both, so I’m curious what you would say would be your preference, you know, if you could choose one or the other! I believe our home should be inspired by our life and vice versa, so I’m sure many of us would be influenced by our past and the things we love to do.
Life on a lake can be very different from life by the sea! Can you imagine the differences in house style or decoration from one another? Would you like to decorate them in the same way? Or maybe, like me, you would have different answers, depending on where in the country or the world your dream home is located! As long as we dream or would you be your dream home?
The minute I saw the house at the top of this page, it took me back to my childhood growing up on and around Lake Oswego in Oregon. We lived in a beautiful house on a peninsula that was also on a level waterfront property, with a canal to the side and to the back of the house. It really is a wonderful place to spend the summer! We had spent every summer on the lake, even when we didn’t live there because our houses had easements on the lake.
I love living in the lake house. I certainly wouldn’t turn down a lake house if given the chance. But I think my heart of all hearts is drawn to the sea. The salty air. Seagulls and sea breezes seem to be calling me! This is one of the reasons I love where I currently live in Seattle. Although I am not on the water, I am close enough to smell the sea air!
Let’s talk about our dream homes. Lake or sea? Tell me how you would decorate it!
