Fall: The Most Wonderful Season to Be at Home

Fall: The most wonderful season to be at home

We have lived in quite a few houses over the years (this is our eighth house since we got married!)! You move into some houses and you know it will be a long journey to make them your own. It’s exciting in its own way! We’ve had so many homes like this and it’s always been so rewarding to watch them transform over the years. I loved finding creative ways to connect with all of my homes and even the process of turning them from drab or dated to beautiful and welcoming.

But with other houses, you feel a deep connection with it from the first moment you see it. Even if there are things you plan to do to make it your own. you just know it gets you since the first day. This is one of those houses for us. It is already as if we belong here. It’s like it’s meant to be. It’s not just the comfort or the style of the house that makes us feel at home. It is also the setting, the neighborhood, the island and all the adventures that can be experienced here.

We have so many visions for this place and our future in this little house by the sea. We are inspired to make it our home for years to come. It could truly be our home forever! We can see the family gathering in rocking chairs on the porch to watch the sunsets and sunrises, the grandchildren nestled in bunk beds and walks on the beach. We love being able to walk to the ferry to visit other islands so I know we will be enjoying all kinds of adventures all year round here.

But above all, I know that we will savor the everyday life in between. With the fall chill in the air now, I know I need nothing more than just sit inside the fire to feel grateful for this new chapter in life and this. new place to call home. I have always felt that fall is the most wonderful time to be home. Do you feel the same way?
