I love making frames, but I’ve always found it a problem to use tacks or staples to hold the image in place. Also, tacks and staples are difficult to remove when you want to edit the image. That’s why I developed this method of fixing the image, glass, mat, and backing panel in the frame. I use 1 inch diameter and # 6’s fender washers 3/8-in. pan head screws. I drill the notch for the washer with a Forstner bit and make it deep enough so that the washer rests against the backing panel to hold everything comfortably.—Larry Jenkins
