Disconnect the machines, relax and get ready to enjoy one of the oldest woodworking tools around: the handsaw. It’s just you, the saw and the wood. Of course, you’ll want a comfortable, well-balanced, and super sharp instrument. These qualities exactly describe these two Lee Valley saws.
These saws – a 12 tpi cut and a 14 tpi cross cut – are designed for general carpentry work. We like them best for cutting tenons. Use the hacksaw to cut the cheeks, as shown above, and the crosscut to cut the shoulders.
Both saws have high-tech composite pins, pistol grip handles, and 11-inch long blades. The set is just 0.003 “on each side. With the cut just wider than the blade, it’s easy to stay on track. In trying these saws, we were surprised to see how our skills have improved only by using such high quality tools. We are sure yours will too.
Here are some supplies and tools that we believe are essential in our daily shop work. We may receive commission from sales sent by our links; however, we have carefully selected these products for their usefulness and quality.
