Every morning we prepare what is known as “Italian coffee” using an espresso machine on the stove (also called Moka Pot). This is a new version of the jar that we use and recommend.
We use several different brands of coffee, but one of our favorites is Kicking Horse.
You want to use a medium grind espresso coffee that is specifically roasted for making espresso.
Grind the fresh coffee beans to a medium coarse grind (we have this grinder).
Fill the boiler with filtered water up to the level of the safety valve.
Fill the filter with the grounds almost to the top, without squeezing the coffee.
Make sure there are no coffee grounds on the rim before assembling the pot to the base.
Screw the pot firmly to the base (make sure it is straight).
Turn on the stove (we have a gas stove, make sure the flame does not go beyond the sides of the pan).
When you hear it gurgling, turn off the heat and let it brew until the coffee maker is ready!
Pour it immediately.
We love to use our milk frother to steam oat milk for our coffee. We usually use this brand of oat milk. We froth the milk just before the end of the coffee and immediately add it to the cup. You can customize the flavor with maple syrup and cinnamon for a tasty variation!
You can see many of our coffee making supplies below! Enjoy!
