Photos in this article: New England House
Bbefore I start to decorate or renovate a house, I first try to imagine how I want it to be to feel be there in all seasons. Now that we have our new home, I’ve spent a lot of time daydreaming about our life here (as I’m packing up our old home to move our stuff there, that’s haha) …
For fall and winter, I envision our home as the most welcoming boutique bed and breakfast hotel in a beach town. A place where you came back from a day of adventures to warm up by the fire. You can snuggle up in a cozy place to spend the evening in a comfortable armchair reading a book, listening to music or having lively conversations around spiced cider and appetizers.
I already like to call our new home our home, and I know I will have so much fun making it our own. As I was looking for inspiration, I found this amazing guesthouse on Martha’s Vineyard in New England Home (where all of the photos in this post are from) and it spun my creative wheels for some cozy ideas. This house also gives me a lot of fall sensations and ideas… I hope you will be inspired by it too!
I have shared several times here on The Inspired Room that I love to observe interior design from many different sources and styles. This practice helps me start thinking about my own style in new ways and inspires me to create more interesting spaces.
Enjoy the photos in this article! Under each photo, I share a few design elements that stood out to me. I call it the observation game (I’ve shared posts like this since The Inspired Room started in 2007!). If you observe and study a good classic design, it will inspire you for years to come!
