I wanted our house to feel festive a bit early this year. It seemed like a good way to cheer us up and make the upcoming season even more special. We mainly use what we have each year and this year is no exception. A few garlands and wreaths, a few green trees, our paper snowflakes and little holiday homes. It doesn’t take much to bring additional joy!
There is no right or wrong way to decorate your home for the holidays. Some people want to do a lot of decorating and others want to do very little. Do what speaks to you this year! Bring out the traditional decor if it brings back fond memories. Take out all the bins if you want, or leave them in storage this time and try something new. It’s your house. It’s your family. You know the best.
This year is weird (I think we can all agree on that), so if creating an extra magical Christmas house makes it happier and lifts your spirits, I hope you have fun with it! If this all seems too hard to tackle right now, so is it. Give yourself grace. I think we all need a lot more of this.
I enjoyed seeing a lot of your homes in The Inspired Room Community, are you here? Share some photos of your house! We would all love to see what you do.
I mentioned last week that we had a garland installed in our kitchen which had already fallen, a few of our big paper snowflakes had also collapsed and Jack had grabbed some felt ornaments from the tree ( as it always does). So we got off to a good start I would say! 🙂 Two steps forward, three steps back seems to be the way we roll in everything, but at least we are progressing and having fun with it.
I’m planning on doing a Christmas tour here this year, so I’ll share more in a future post, but here’s a little preview! Plus we have some fun gift ideas and giveaways you can participate in at the end!
We made these mason jar snow globes years ago and I still use them!
By the way, I have new striped curtains in the dining room! I love the stitching details!
Jack and Lily are so comfortable here with our burning fireplace, the lights on the trees, the Christmas music playing, the family hanging out together at the house. They adore it. U.S. too. This is where we spend most of our time, it’s so comfortable you can’t help but want to be here.
I have a new winter diffuser that I find so adorable, it’s called Snowy the Owl. It would make a darling Christmas present for the kids, but I got it for myself. 🙂 It plays a variety of soothing white noises and comes with fun stickers to customize its look! It also comes with two oils, one that smells like orange cream and the other is great for sleeping! You can add it to the Welcome Home starter kit or add it separately to your order HERE.
There is also an adorable vacation starter pack, details are here.

This is the only LOL hanging paper snowflake. We have tried control strips for garlands and snowflakes, but most have already fallen. 🙂 Never mind. Maybe we’ll get them back.
Some of you were asking me where our white painted bookcase was in our house, it’s right inside the living room, next to the dining room! It’s so much fun to have a library here again, both for books and decorating. It was also a convenient place for our boxwood garlands and white houses!
I’ll be sharing more of our Christmas decor here on the blog and in my Instagram Stories over the next few weeks! 🙂
