Kylee's House Updates (Sharing Some Hand-Me-Downs!)

Kylee here with some home updates to share! As you know, my parents recently downsized and moved into their new home with my grandparents, which for both of them meant cutting down on some of their furniture and decor items. I was the lucky recipient of some of their beautiful pieces (perfect timing with our move into our new home!). I thought it would be fun to share where some of their hands have ended up in my house so far …

First of all, these cute copper planters and hanging door basket are at my front door! The exact door basket is out of stock, but here’s a similar one my mom has, and I’ve rounded up a few more options above. Love the warm copper color of the pots and how perfect it looks with all the fall colors in our garden and neighborhood! They are going to be so much fun changing the seasons too!

Then my parents’ dining table, chairs and bench. The table was actually my grandparents ‘dining table before my parents’! This table has a long history with our family and I’m sure you’ve seen it many times over the years as it has traveled from house to house with my mom! So many memories have been shared around him and I am so happy that he will live in my house as we create new ones. Also this cute little hanging bell / candle holder that I grabbed from her and it adds a charming little touch to this corner!

I love this pretty blue and white lamp so much! I have two pairs of these lights now and I’m still playing around with where they’ll go, but here’s where one of them ended up! Also, the dresser was my mom’s, it was a vintage piece my mom painted – you can see the paint color she used here. The gorgeous rug belonged to my grandparents (which I also inherited when they were downsized!) And the pillow Leo snuggles up against was also previously at my parents’ house. 🙂

This buffet is now happy in my dining room (previously in my mom’s dining room!) And is stocking some of our entertainment items!

I love the way everything comes together here! I’ve always loved a collectable look over time and think combining my mom’s pieces with things we already had definitely gives that vibe! I took a lot of these parts not knowing where they were going and wondered if they would ever work, but it was so much fun trying things out and being surprised how they fit, almost better than if I had them. had chosen myself! It is useful that it has of course a lot of taste and classic pieces;)

If you are not so lucky to have someone forward things to you, I highly recommend you browse the Facebook marketplace and craig list for used finds! It is not always easy, but if you are diligent in looking, you will find gems at unbeatable prices. And as I learned, grab whatever you like and then try to find a place for it! In the worst case, you resell it 🙂

There are also a few other bits that I shared on my mom’s Instagram Stories the other day. If you missed it, you can watch them by clicking here! I will continue to share updates there and on my Instagram if you want to follow – would love to hang out with you there!
