Mullet M5 Dust Cyclone ReviewTool: M5 Dust Cyclone Collection Shop now

Producer: Mullet tools

Advised price: $ 229.99

When I heard that a handful of former YETI guys had created a new dust collection system, I was intrigued. I went through several iterations of dust collection in my shop. I started with a second hand 70 gallon dust collector before realizing it was too big. So, for a while I would have just attached my wet vacuum directly to whatever tool I was using. Finally, I switched to a right-hand dust separator which has served me well over the past few years. However, it was a bit cumbersome to lay it out and connect it to my vacuum cleaner, and I often did without it. The idea of an all-in-one system was very tempting.

From the beginning I was impressed; I spent more time reading the instructions than setting up the M5. The benefits of the design were also immediately apparent. It’s incredibly light, and the lack of extra lids and tubes made moving the store a breeze. These benefits also applied when it was connected to my vacuum cleaner. While cleaning after a project, I could just drag the M5 / Vac combo into my shop without thinking twice. No corrugated pipes or drunken dustbins to worry about. And finally, emptying it was also a breeze.

At $ 229.99 the M5 isn’t the cheapest option available, but the ease of use (and the fact that I’ll actually use it) means it’s a worthwhile purchase. Now, if you can excuse me, I have an old ash vacuum to put on Craigslist.
