My New Outdoor Wall Lantern + Styling Ideas
Who knew that having a small rabbit holding a candle in a lantern close to my front door could cause as much joy?!
Oh, well, let’s be fair. I did. Simple joys are my favourite thing. Now more than ever, I believe, I enjoy the small things I could do for pleasure:-RRB-.
I had our lantern sconce this winter but we eventually took a moment to hang it up! You can find the specific lantern I have here and the tapered battery candle.
Everything is set up to hang easily, the holes at the trunk are pre-drilled! If we could do it no DIY”Anyone can do it. We utilized our ordinary electrical drill and this sort of drill to drill the screws in our brick. Easy peasy!
We’ve got a ceiling light in our veranda but I always wanted us to have a magical lantern close to the door. To receive one, we need to create the power work there. Though this is still an option for the future, once I watched this lantern, I immediately thought of the seasonal strategies to decorate it. We’ve got such a tiny front porch, there’s not much space for seasonal items, so a non-electric wall lantern made perfect sense for so many reasons.
The lantern is quite large but it makes a terrific statement and gives you lots of space to include any seasonal decor.
So once we hang it up, I just put a tiny rabbit candle holder inside (the one I’ve had for years) using a conical battery-powered candle and imitation and real greenery for spring. It is so cute and welcoming. I love.
There are many style possibilities, I know I will have fun with new ideas for what to put in all year! It reminds me of the pleasure of the refillable glass lamps I’ve (like these).
I’ll share some ideas and inspiration for the lanterns below, as well as sources for getting a similar look!
Some ideas for decorating lanterns:
- copper garlands
- pillar candles with batteries
- mini pumpkins
- A bouquet of flowers
- a small potted plant
- moss and greenery
- conical candle with batteries in a candle holder

If you get a lantern and comb it, I would love to see it! Tag me on social @theinspiredroom and / or post it in the Facebook group The Inspired Room Community (it’s free!). I would love to see your lanterns, your ideas and your inspiration all year round.
You can also hang the lantern on a hook like this or this one! Mine has that same handle on top, I just noticed that you can’t see it in my photos.
You know I’m going to drop-nest my lantern.
I will definitely do this look! I have the perfect little bowl on feet. I love the look of two lanterns, but our little porch has no room for a second!
I will share my lantern every time I change it again! And I will also try to have a night photo taken. It’s so welcoming!
