Who says you can’t put a square peg in a round hole? My scrap basket is made of round cardboard tubes made for concrete shapes. These tubes are available at home centers; they are durable, come in various diameters and are easy to cut. I use their different diameters and lengths as a storage system for my scraps. I put the basket on wheels so that I could move it from one tool to another.
To make the basket, I cut the tubes to size, glued and screwed a 3/4 ″ plywood disk into the bottom of each tube and screwed the tubes to a plywood base with 3 ″ wheels. After the tubes were fitted, I glued them together where they touch for added strength. Of course, painting is optional. –Nancy Ballance
