In this video, TikTok user Liz Lovery (@lizlovery) demonstrates how to string lights vertically on your Christmas tree, while explaining all the benefits of this method. So what exactly are the benefits? When you put them on from top to bottom, she says you are using less lights. Plus, if some lights go out, it’s so much easier to change them. At the start of the video, Lovery says she learned this “really cool” decorating hack from TikTok. And in the caption, Lovery specifically thanks TikTok user Clare Hooper (@mrsclarehoops) for the inspiration behind this hanging light method. In Hooper’s TikTok, which racked up 2.3 million views, she explains that when decorating Christmas trees was part of her job, she used the “zig zag” (vertical) method. She points out that hanging them vertically instead of coiling them means you won’t waste light on the back of your tree.
