Yelp and Chasing Paper Just Released a Wallpaper Print

Wallpaper (whether it’s removable or a traditional, glue-using paper) can do a lot to change the look and feel of any room: There’s good reason for its explosion in popularity in recent years. New wallpaper patterns range from the fresh and funky to very traditional toile-style prints, all with application and removal innovations that take a lot of the struggle out of hanging and removing it. No matter what your style is, there’s a wallpaper for you—and a brand new wallpaper launch from trend-setter Chasing Paper is sure to please more than a few people, even if you thought you’d never try wallpaper.

Starting October 6, home decor fans who love independent businesses can buy wallpaper from Chasing Paper that supports a good cause. Through a collaboration with Yelp, Chasing Paper is offering a series of wallpaper prints that feature beloved local businesses in three major U.S. cities. A portion of proceeds from each wallpaper panel sold will be donated to a local nonprofit associated with the city featured—so if you purchase a wallpaper panel featuring a store in San Francisco, donated funds go to a nonprofit that assists local entrepreneurs and small businesses in that city.

“At Yelp, we’re committed to spotlighting small businesses across America, and as we’ve seen a 359 percent increase in interest for wallpaper installation over the last year, we wanted to offer people a fun way to get in on this trend while celebrating their city’s local favorites,” says Tara Lewis, a trend expert with Yelp, in a press release announcing the launch. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Chasing Paper on this unique wallpaper featuring iconic restaurants, bookstores, and other independent businesses, and we’re excited to see how people will bring their wallpaper dreams to life with the help of trusted local professionals they connect with on Yelp.”

Beyond the great causes supported by this collaboration and the spotlight it gives to local businesses, the wallpapers are, undoubtedly, adorable. Featuring illustrations by New York City illustrator and graphic designer Amanda Giuffre (the artist behind Noun New York), each print features the sketched storefronts of 12 small businesses (all of which are highly rated in their city on Yelp, and which agreed to be featured) in New York City, San Francisco, and Austin, Texas, respectively.

Giuffre’s signature style of sketch-like illustrations feels casual and cute, and hung on a wall, these prints depicting restaurants, stores, and more are sure to be conversation starters—particularly if you have personal memories of visiting the businesses featured. Perfectly in-line with the enduring trend of hanging and treasuring sketches and more casual artwork, this wallpaper works equally well on an accent wall or as a whole-wall covering—and while it might be a little busy for a ceiling, with the right approach, it could be an eye-grabbing feature. No matter how you hang it, these wallpaper prints are sure to be a playful, meaningful addition to any home.

The three prints—New York City, San Francisco, and Austin—will all be available in three colorways: black and white, red and white, and gray and blue. The New York City print will feature Amy Ruth’s; Bobo; Books Are Magic; Dead Rabbit; Di Fara Pizza; Freeman’s; Jim’s Shoe Repair; Los Tacos No. 1; NY Dosas; Nan Xiang Xia Long Bao; Ruby’s; and The Meatball Shop. The San Francisco print will feature Comstock Saloon; Green Apple Books; House of Prime Rib; Liholiho Yacht Club; Marufuku Ramen; Oasis; Shizen; Souvla; Suppenkuche; The Beehive; Zazie; and Zuni. And finally, the Austin print shows Bird Bird Biscuit; Granny’s Tacos; Home Slice Pizza; la Barbecue; Lick Ice Cream; Mozart’s; Paramount Theater; Peter Pan Mini Golf; Spider House Ballroom; The Picnic; Waterloo Records; and Wheatsville Food Co-op. Proceeds support, in part, Hot Bread Kitchen in New York City; La Cocina in San Francisco; and BiGAUSTIN in Austin.
